Other ways I can help

There are many other ways that I can help you celebrate and preserve your precious family memories. I give talks, hold life story writing workshops and creative reminiscence sessions. I can also provide ‘Memory Lane’ parties for special birthdays and Family Memory Days, bringing several generations of a family together.

Talks

On Zoom or in person

I give talks to groups and organisations about the importance of capturing family memories and ways to write your own or someone else’s life story.

“Everyone loved your talk. There was a real buzz about the place. There was something for everybody to think about and lots of audience participation. You have a natural gift for speaking and for putting your thoughts across in a most natural, friendly and sensitive way. I couldn’t recommend your ability to hold your audience more highly.” [Julia, Sussex]

Please get in touch if you'd like me to give a talk to a group you're involved with.

Workshops

Taking part in a workshop is a great way to start the life story writing process. You can either do a one day introduction workshop or take part in a longer, more structured programme. You will meet others who are doing the same thing and can exchange ideas and support each other. Sharing memories is always more fun! Workshops can be done in person or remotely via Zoom, so can be held with participants from all over the world. I can also organise a personal tailor made workshop for members of groups or organisations. Just get in touch for a chat.

Life Story Writing Courses

I run courses and residential weeks which are really enjoyable and full of memory sharing and group participation. Here is what one participant said about his experience.

"I recently attended a six day course on life story writing given by Sarah Lott. Over the last few years I have struggled to move forward with just such a project myself. The course was professionally given and well structured with teaching sessions, exercises and group working. There was ample free time allowing for processing the morning's study, extra work or just relaxing. There was also space for one-to-one sessions with Sarah. Sarah is s gifted teacher who guided us through the practicalities of life story writing and, most importantly, sensitively and sympathetically guided us on how to deal with the difficult memories and episodes that everyone has in the their past lives. I wholeheartedly recommend her as an outstanding practitioner of her art.”

Please get in touch if you'd like more information or would like to run a course in your area.

Creative Reminiscence

Reminiscence sessions and creative reminiscence projects can be done on a one to one basis or with groups or care homes. The benefits of reminiscence are widely acknowledged and hugely enjoyable.

I’m a trained creative reminiscence practitioner (after completing  a structured apprenticeship in Reminiscence Arts in Dementia Care with the European Reminiscence Network)

Memory Lane Parties

If you have a big birthday coming up, why not hold a party with your friends and do a little reminiscing while you’re at it? These mini-workshop parties are great for special birthdays!

I can come to your home or to a venue.

Family Memory Days

These days are very special and great fun. I come to your home with a photographer and we spend time in a relaxed environment, bringing different generations of a family together through shared reminiscence activities. It’s great to see the grandchildren ‘interviewing’ their grandparents!

The Life Story Club

This is a Facebook group, set up during the Coronavirus epidemic to support those who are self isolating. For more information please contact me.

"Sarah is genuinely warm and supportive. Her approach is professional and the instructions she provides in the club are clear and easy to follow. Most importantly Sarah provides encouragement and offers support through her own posts and by using a variety of other resources." [Heather, Canada]
